Communication
Arts 260 Course Description This course examines rhetorical and communication science approaches to the study of communication and human behavior. First, approaches to communication inquiry are reviewed and demonstrated through applications to the study of communicative message features. Subsequent units explore social and cultural influence and the communicative construction of identity and relationships from both rhetorical and communication science perspectives. In sum, the course is intended to provide an introduction to the study of communication and human behavior to serve as a foundation for further course work in the Rhetorical Studies and Communication Science track of the Communication Arts major. Communication and Human Behavior - I, II; 3 cr (S-E). Concepts and contexts relevant for the study of human communication including basic elements in the communication process and issues associated with mediated, public, interpersonal, small group, organizational, and intercultural communication. Prerequisites: Open to Fr. Not open to Seniors. |
